Angela White is an Australian adult film star, born March 4, 1985. She is one of the most successful adult stars in the industry today, having won the AVN Female Performer of the Year award in both 2018 and 2019 as well as being inducted in the AVN Hall of Fame. She is a graduate of the University of Melbourne with First Class Honors in Gender Studies and ran as a political candidate for the Australian Sex Party (now Reason Party) in the 2010 Victorian State election. She’s made many mainstream media appearances including being a character on the Australian comedy TV show, ‘Pizza’. She’s also appeared in publications such as Cosmopolitan, The Daily Beast, and was even featured in a cover story of Australian newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald in 2013. She has her own production company, AGW Entertainment through which she stars in and directs her own content for her website AngelaWhite.com, however recently has appeared for many popular adult film studios including Evil Angel, Brazzers, Girlsway and others.
Angela White was born March 4, 1985 in Sydney Australia. She was the oldest child in a large family. Her mother was a photographer and her father a carpenter. They lived in Sydney until she was 8 years old, after which they moved to a farm in Victoria and to the East Coast where she went to high school. “The people are quite relaxed and have a very strong sense of loyalty,” she told AdultDVDTalk about growing up in Australia. “The continent itself has everything from gorgeous beaches to snow fields to deserts. It’s a wonderful place to grow up.”
In high school she was promiscuous and explored her sexuality at a young age. She told AdultDVDTalk that she experimented with girls from the time she was 13 and lost her virginity at 14. She was often bullied and sex-shamed in high school because of her openness with her sexuality. She told The Daily Beast in a 2017 interview, “If I was having sex with boys, I was considered a slut and when I was having sex with girls, I was criticized as being a lesbian. No matter what I did I was criticized for my sexuality”. She elaborated on this with The Sun in a 2018 interview, “I was teased and called a slut and a lesbian at age 14. It wasn’t just verbal but physical too. I was punched in the face for expressing my sexuality”. She also spoke on how at the time, she received criticism for even her figure growing up. “I grew up before Instagram, before the ‘thick’ trend existed. I read Dolly and Girlfriend and watched TV and never saw my body represented in a positive light in mainstream media”.
She discovered porn at 14 and was immediately drawn to it, seeing it as something free and positive. She spoke to the Daily Beast about this, “I was introduced to pornography by a boyfriend and I finally saw this space where having sex with multiple people of varying genders was actually encouraged and celebrated rather than criticized. It looked like a utopia; it looked like a safe space”. When she turned 18, she sent photos to The Score Group, a porn studio that focused busty women and glamourous ‘big tit’ porn. “They showed interest in my natural curves straight away and flew me to the States to begin shooting. I never looked back”. She was still in high school when she shot her first scene with the Score in 2003, which was a masturbation scene. She worked exclusively for them until 2008 shooting only masturbation and lesbian content.
Unlike most pornstars, she opted to use her real name, Angela White for her videos. She explained to Daily Beast that this was intentional. “It was a political statement for me actually to choose to use my real name in the scenes that I do, because I’m not ashamed of what I do” she said. While shooting the occasional scenes for The Score Group, as well as DDF Network and Australian site Abbey Winters, Angela continued her studies in her home of Australia and went to University of Melbourne and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. She graduated with first-class honors in 2010 in gender studies. She completed a thesis on the experiences of female performers in the Australian pornography industry, proving that sex work can be positive and transformative for many of them. Her thesis was delivered at the Erotic Screen and Sound conference at Griffith University in 2011.
In 2010 after she finished university, Angela White ran as a political candidate for the Australian Sex Party, a political party that was born out of an adult industry lobby group that was founded in response to concerns over the increasing influence of religion in Australian politics. She fought for the rights of sex workers in the Victorian State election. She commented on this in an XCritic interview; “It was a threat to the rights of sex workers in Australia that prompted me to run for political office in the 2010 Victorian State Election. The adult industry is being attacked from both sides of the political spectrum, from the conservative-religious right and the anti-porn feminist left, and everyone in the adult industry should have an awareness of their place within these debates”. She didn’t run with the intention of winning, but rather to make sure opposing candidate Kathleen Maltzahn, who wanted to criminalize sex work, didn’t win. Angela made headlines when she sent copies of her porn DVDs to the Attorney General. She made mainstream news again in 2013 when she filmed a sex video with fellow Australian Sex Party candidate Zahra Stardust, making them the first political candidates to ever film a porn scene together.
In the first 8 years of her porn career, Angela White performed only softcore videos, masturbation or lesbian scenes. But in 2011, The Score released the DVD ‘Angela White Finally Fucks’, her first hardcore movie. She was in all four scenes that also included male talent Juan Largo and J-Mac and it ended with a threesome scene with Maggie Green and Juan Largo. She told Dialogue Magazine about her decision to start filming boy/girl, “I don’t do anything in life until I feel completely ready”. She continued, “When I finished my honors degree at the end of 2010, I was ready to transition to something new. I contemplated doing boy/girl hardcore and it was the first time I had thought about it without any doubts emerging. The only thing I felt was eagerness and excitement. That’s how I knew I was ready.”
In 2013, Angela White launched her own website, AngelaWhite.com, and started her own production company, AGW Entertainment. She began to shoot and direct her own content for her fans through her own means of distribution. In addition to releasing her own sex scenes she also did cam shows. She worked almost exclusively for her own website, shooting both softcore and hardcore scenes with the likes of James Deen, Alexis Texas, Manuel Ferrara, Asa Akira and others. In 2014, she signed a deal with Girlfriends Films to distribute her films and soon after released the film ‘Angela 1’, her first showcase DVD. The movie featured her first anal sex scene, first interracial and first double penetration scene. The movie earned Angela her first AVN nominations including Best Star Showcase and Best Three-Way Sex Scene in 2015. It was also nominated for All-Sex Release of the Year at the 2015 XBiz Awards.
Angela White followed up the movie with 2015’s ‘Angela 2’, which this time featured her first lesbian three-way, first blowbang, first interracial DP and her first gangbang scene, which was later released on her website for her 100th scene. What makes Angela such a remarkable talent is that she directed and produced all this content herself and remained in control of everything. She wrote on her blog regarding the gangbang scene, “I generally avoid using the ‘f’ word, but this is by far my favorite scene and might actually be the greatest thing I’ve ever done for myself. This gangbang is my own fantasy fulfilled, on my own terms. As the director and producer, I was in control of everything from the location, wardrobe and makeup to the cast, acts performed and their intensity”. ‘Angela 2’ brought Angela her first AVN awards for best All-Girl Group Sex Scene and Best Oral Sex Scene.
With the success of the movies ‘Angela 1’ and ‘Angela 2’, Angela White’s porn career got bigger and bigger as she continued to film and direct her content for AGW Entertainment and her site AngelaWhite.com. She also released more award-winning movies including ‘Angela Loves Women’, ‘Angela Loves Gonzo’ and ‘Angela 3’. She even became a Fleshlight girl in 2014 which won the AVN Fan Award for Most Amazing Sex Toy, and she did it all under her own management company. But in 2016, Angela was looking to expand her career even more. She signed with top booking agency Spiegler Girls and moved from her home in Australia to the big lights of Los Angeles. She got booked for major production companies including Brazzers, Evil Angel, Blacked, Girlsway, Kelly Madison and others, which would be the first time in years she shoots for companies other than her own. She told AVN about the move, “I’m really excited to shoot for other companies and shoot for other directors that challenge me and push my sexual boundaries in new directions. I’m also looking forward to doing some actual script and acting work.”
Her first Evil Angel scene came as part of Manuel Ferrara’s Raw series and she was on the box cover of Raw 28. “It’s always a pleasure to shoot with Manuel, and the Raw series was particularly fun to take part in,” she said of the shoot. “This scene is incredibly passionate and intimate and I’m sure fans are going to love it”.
Angela made her Girlsway debut that year as well in the 2-part story, ‘The Chiropractor’ which featured Mia Malkova and Georgia Jones. Angela would go on to film with dozens of stars for Girlsway in the coming years like Abella Danger, Kimmy Granger, Charlotte Stokley and others, and appeared in some of their most successful series like Fashion Model and Vampires. She even became Girlsway Girl of the Month in April 2017. “I have a great love and passion for women and I’m extremely happy that this passion has translated on-screen for my fans and broader Girlsway community,” she said, referring to the honor. Girlsway creator Bree Mills also spoke highly of Angela, “She’s been a pleasure to work with on set and our crew has taken to her charm and character quickly, allowing us to produce some incredible scenes together”.
Bree and Angela would work on many more projects together, including dozens of other scenes for Girlsway, Fantasy Massage and Pretty Dirty. But none were as groundbreaking as the scene Angela wrote for Pure Taboo called, ‘The Weight of Infidelity’. The scene is about an abusive husband (played by Tommy Pistol) who is always telling his wife (played by Angela White) to lose weight. But at the same time, he is cheating on her with a much curvier woman (played by Karla Lane). Angela commented on her intention for the scene in an interview with AVN. “I wanted to use this platform to talk about the way idealized body types can be used against people as a weapon. Used against women - and men - as a display of dominance and power”. The scene was released for free on Pure Taboo and got many people talking, even receiving mainstream attention from publications like Maxim and Jezebel.
Angela White went on to host the 2017 XRCO Awards, and the 2018 AVN Awards, even winning the AVN Female Performer of the Year that same year. But her biggest and most revealing project came in 2018 with a set of Evil Angel showcases, ‘I Am Angela’ and ‘Angela By Darkko’, paired together under the title, ‘A Portrait of Angela White’. ‘I Am Angela’ was directed by Evil Chris and was part porn, part documentary with revealing interviews and hardcore sex. The feature included her first sex scene with Rocco Siffredi as well as her first transsexual scene with trans superstar Chanel Santini. “This is the most unique adult project I’ve ever been involved in” Angela told AVN. “The movie was a monumental undertaking and I am extremely grateful to Evil Chris and John Stagliano for giving me this amazing opportunity to share myself and my story.” The Jonni Darkko directed showcase was a more traditional movie, but featured Angela in hardcore scenes including an eight-on-one blowbang and a five-on-one gangbang that included double-vaginal, double-anal and triple penetration. The series brought her home 3 AVN Awards and she again won the Female Performer of the Year award in 2019, becoming only the second performer to ever win the award twice in back-to-back years, the other performer being Tori Black.
After dozens of awards and an induction into the AVN Hall of Fame, what’s next for Angela White? She commented on her recent success in an AVN interview and owes much of her success to her fans. “I started off in this industry for the purposes of self-exploration. But when I hear stories from fans about the way that I’ve touched them, about the ways that I’ve helped them embrace their sexuality, about the ways that they’ve been able to open up more to their partners, that makes my work even more meaningful and powerful because it becomes bigger than just about me and my own exploration. It becomes about others and helping others with their sexual exploration”. She doesn’t look to be slowing down at all, filming scenes this year for Wicked, BangBros, Girlfriends Films and others. From a woman that has gone from success in academia to politics to porn, all under her own direction and creativity, the future is anything she wants it to be.
